SEALANTS

Sealents are used to provide protection against future dental decay. They are especially effective in young dentition. Sealents should be applied as soon as the tooth is erupted.  Sealants are used to fill narrow grooves in a tooth, which can accumulate plaque, and allow bacteria to hide and develop decays. In the dental office the teeth will be cleaned and thin layer of coating will be brushed on to feel the pits and grooves.
